Darling Lit is just getting started and we’re looking to celebrate the weird and the wonderful!
We are accepting speculative fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, nonfiction, poetry, and craft essays. Mainly, we want pieces that make us feel something. We want to read what makes life amazing and what makes life hard.
We will publish a new issue every December and June. The deadline to submit for our first December issue is October 31st, 2023.
We ask that your submissions be previously unpublished, including on personal websites and blogs.
We will accept up to two submissions from a single writer per submission period, but we will only publish one work per writer per issue. All submissions should be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please submit your work as a .doc or .docx file, or paste it in the body of your email. Your email subject should have your name, the title of the work, and what genre you are submitting for.
For poems, we will accept blocks of 3 to 8 poems, and will strive to publish at least 3 poems per writer.
For fiction, nonfiction, and craft essays, please submit your work that is between 500-6,000 words.
Our goal is to respond to your submission within 30 days. If it has been longer than that, feel free to email us again to check in!
If we accept your work, please be prepared to provide an author bio and complete an interview via email with our editor. Upon publication of the issue, all writers will be paid our current rate of $10 per publication. This issue will be published in December. It will be published a week early on Patreon and then publicly on the website afterwards. Currently we are not able to make print copies of the issues but hope to be able to in the future.
